South Street - The road construction for South Street in under way. Maxymillion, Berkshire Gas, and other contractors will be working throughout the construction site. Please be advised there may be delays and you may want to find an alternate route. The road can be closed to one lane of traffic at any given time. Use caution and obey speed limits in and around the construction zones. Speeding fines are doubled. April 2008 - ?????

Effective July 1, 2008, in conjunction with the re-construction of South Street, Dalton, Mass Highwayand Maxymillion Construction will be closing South Streetbetween Hemlock Hill and Frederick Drivein order for Barton Brook Culvert to be replaced. Access will be accessible from Dalton Division Roadto Hemlock Hill and to all side streets and from Main Street to Frederick Drive and to all side streets. With the exception of the road being closed between these two locations the remainder of the road will be accessible to the public. All residents will have their usual access to their homes and property. The tentative re-opening date of South Street for “thru” traffic is September 1, 2008 or sooner.

Cleveland Road @ Johnson Road - Beginning Monday, May 5, 2008, Massachusetts State Highway will close the bridge on Cleveland Road @ Johnson Road for a period of at least 6 weeks for repair work. Please use alternate routes during this time period.

Hinsdale Rd, between East St. and E. Housatonic St. is closed indefinitely do to Bridge Work. Detour signs are in place. Use caution on The South Bridge near the Hinsdale Line, Bridge work. Use caution and obey speed limits in and around the construction zones. Speeding fines are doubled. January 2008 - ?????

Firearms Safety Course - Anyone interested in attending a class must pre-register by calling the 413-684-6111 ext. 38. THE NEXT CLASS WILL BE JULY 26, 2008. This class will fulfill the requirement for obtaining your License to Carry or Firearms Identification Permits. Fee for the class will be $ 60.00. Pre-registration is REQUIRED to attend. We are now accepting names for a wait list.

OFFICERS ARE ON HIGH ALERT!!: Police officers are always supposed to be aware of their surroundings. Because of recent events, Police officers are on a Higher state of alert. When your vehicle is stopped, (especially at night) the officer may initial be direct and out of your sight, You may also see other cruisers assisting, this for extra safety. If you are stopped, turn your interior light on, have your credentials ready, Do not reach around or make sudden movements. Listen to the officer and all should go smooth.
